Steve M. Traina, MD
Dr. Steven M. Traina received a B.A. from Central College (IA) and obtained his medical degree from the University of Illinois. Dr. Traina completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic surgical residency through the University of Illinois at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. He then pursued a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery through the University of Colorado School of Medicine. His special interests include sports medicine, knee surgery, shoulder surgery, and total knee replacement. Dr. Traina has been a team physician for the Denver Nuggets since 1986. He has been a consulting physician to the Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Crush and Denver Broncos. He also serves as one of the Boxing Commissioners for the State of Colorado. Dr. Traina has published and spoken, both nationally and internationally, on Sports Medicine and total knee replacement topics. Dr. Traina joined Western Orthopaedics, P.C. in 2009. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine. Dr. Traina is Board Certified and is a Fellow with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is a member of numerous organizations including The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Association for Arthritic Hip and Knee Surgery, American College of Sports Medicine, National Athletic Trainers Association, American Medical Soccer Association, National Basketball Association Physicians Society, American Running and Fitness Association, Karl Meyer Surgical Society, Professional Team Physicians Society, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery & Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.
