Dr. Gareth E. Shemesh was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received a B.A. from St. John's University, M.S. in biology from Loyola University of Chicago and his M.D. from St. George's University School of Medicine. After completing residency in internal medicine in New Jersey, he finished an additional residency in rehabilitation medicine at Jewish Hospital at Washington University School of Medicine. He is board certified in both disciplines and is a Fellow with the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Shemesh specializes in the diagnosis and non-surgical management of musculoskeletal disorders, acute and chronic pain and diagnostic/therapeutic injections. He also performs electrodiagnostic testing and is a member of the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

My Approach to Treating Patients

Being trained in both internal medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation, I try to incorporate all available information to formulate a working diagnosis.  By obtaining a careful history from the patient, performing a thorough examination and correlating this with available data including lab tests, radiographic imaging and other information we can establish an effective treatment plan.  Most importantly, I like to get to know my patients by taking the time to listen carefully and explain their condition and treatment options thoroughly, so we can achieve the best possible outcome for their condition.
